Born and raised in Philadelphia, Corey Wims — known universally as KINGOFHOOKS — represents the enduring heartbeat of East Coast R&B and classic soul.
Corey’s foundation was built early. He is a proud graduate of Overbrook High School (Class of ’99), walking the same historic halls that gave rise to legends like Will Smith and Wilt Chamberlain. Today, he proudly adds "Corey Wims" to that illustrious legacy.
Gifted with a commanding, emotion-drenched vocal tone, Corey's voice has been widely compared to some of the greatest to ever touch a microphone: David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Teddy Pendergrass, Aaron Hall, Tyrese, and K‑Ci Hailey.
